'By God our boys gave everything' - Eamon O'Shea on All-Ireland epic

The Tipperary boss would have loved to win but still enjoyed the game.

IT GOES WITHOUT saying that Tipperary boss Eamon O’Shea was disappointed with the result of today’s All-Ireland SHC final after a late John O’Dwyer free sailed just wide to deny them a win over Kilkenny.

However, he still enjoyed the game, telling RTÉ Television “these are brilliant times”.

“It was a great game, a fantastic game of hurling from both sides.

We were on top, they were on top. These are brilliant games, these are brilliant times.

“Look, we’re not happy we didn’t win but by God our boys gave everything so Tipperary can be proud tonight and we’ll just go back and prepare for the next day.

Asked about the mistakes made by both teams, O’Shea said he would rather focus on the fact both teams will have another opportunity to lift the Liam MacCarthy Cup.

“Both teams made mistakes, you’ll always make mistakes.

“I just think you should look at the game and we have another chance for both teams.”

The replay will take place on Saturday, September 27 at 5pm in Croke Park.
